This policy explains what this site collects, why, and what you can do about it. It’s written to be read rather than to be impenetrable.
Who is responsible
This site is operated by Adrian Millington, trading as WebDInc, based in Barbados. Contact: info@howtodetox.org.
What is collected
If you join the mailing list: your email address, and the date and source of your signup. That’s it. No name is required and none is asked for.
If you contact me: whatever you put in the message, plus your email address so I can reply.
Automatically, when you visit: standard analytics data — pages viewed, approximate location by country or region, device and browser type, and the site you arrived from. This is aggregated and is not used to identify individuals.
Why, and on what basis
- Mailing list — to send the checklist you requested and occasional updates. Basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Replies to messages — to answer you. Basis: legitimate interest in responding to correspondence.
- Analytics — to understand which pages are useful. Basis: legitimate interest in running the site.
Your email address is never sold, rented, or shared with advertisers. Ever, for any price.
Who else handles your data
Data is processed on my behalf by: EmailOctopus, my WEB HOST — hosting.com, Google Analytics, and Meta Advertising. Each holds data only to provide their service.
Some of these providers are based outside Barbados, including in the United States, so your data may be transferred and stored there.
Cookies and advertising
This site uses cookies for basic function and analytics. Third-party advertising networks serving ads here may also set cookies to show ads based on your previous visits to this and other sites.
You can control cookies through your browser settings. You can opt out of personalised advertising from participating networks at optout.aboutads.info and youronlinechoices.com.
Affiliate links may set a cookie recording that you arrived at a retailer from this site, so any commission is attributed correctly. That cookie is set by the retailer, is governed by their privacy policy, and typically expires within 24 hours to 90 days.
How long data is kept
Mailing list addresses are kept until you unsubscribe, and removed promptly afterwards. Correspondence is kept while it’s useful and then deleted. Analytics data is retained per the provider’s default, typically 14 to 26 months.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to ask for a copy of what’s held about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to withdraw consent, and to object to processing. Visitors in the UK and EU have these rights under the UK GDPR and GDPR; visitors in California have comparable rights under the CCPA.
To exercise any of them, email info@howtodetox.org. There’s no charge, and no need to explain why.
Every email from this site carries a one-click unsubscribe link. That’s the fastest route and it takes effect immediately.
Children
This site isn’t directed at children under 16 and doesn’t knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has submitted information, email me and it’ll be deleted.
Changes
Changes to this policy will be posted here with an updated date. Material changes affecting the mailing list will be sent to subscribers by email.
